How am I being assessed in an ISLPR test?

Posted by ISLPR Language Services on June 11, 2019 at 2:36 PM

We have a couple of pages on our website that are dedicated to answering this question. To make it easier for you to locate the information you need though, we have created a downloadable version of the marking criteria.

In this downloadable document we have included the following information:

  1. A summary of the ISLPR® scale  which is useful for a test taker to familiarise themselves with.
    • Please note that the full ISLPR® scale is not available for sale and in fact, would not be useful for a test taker to read. The ISLPR® scale is a 40 page document that was written to be used by trained testers familiar with linguistic terminology.
  2. We have outlined the key issues at each defined level of the ISLPR® scale. This will give you an indication of important behavioural features at each level in the scale.
  3. We have outlined the key features of each macroskill. This summarises the key language features that the tester will take into account when assessing your language skills.

Simply fill in your details below and you'll be prompted to download the guide.

At ILS, language testing is personal.

Language is an interactive and social skill. Therefore, we believe English should be taught and tested similarly.

ISLPR Language Services (ILS) developed the ISLPR® Test because we saw the need for a test that examined your real-life language. The ISLPR® Test is an interactive and personalised test. As the ISLPR test is personalised for each candidate, there are no tricks to pass the test.

Why we're different:

  • We test your speaking, listening and reading skills in a one-to-one interview.
  • The content of your test is customised to match your area of expertise.
  • The ISLPR is the shortest English test, therefore minimising the chance of fatigue.
  • We offer individual English tutorials with accredited tutors.
  • We offer a feedback service so you can find out why you got that rating in your test.
